Covenant Keepers Handbook

Raw milk jars and egg cartons in the self-serve farm store cooler

About the Farm

Hello there, and welcome to Covenant Pastures! We're Caleb and Faith Schrock, a young couple passionate about raising nutrient dense food for our family and yours. Our goal is to provide nutritious and delicious food that truly satisfies and nourishes our families.

We both grew up in Central Illinois. Caleb moved to northwest Iowa in 2021 to work for a regenerative ag equipment manufacturer, and in 2023 he married Faith, who grew up milking cows. That same year we bought our first pasture outside of Cylinder. In June 2025 we bought the cows and milking equipment from Flat Rock Living, and with help from family and friends we built a shed that holds our self-serve farm store, milking parlor, processing area and a barn for bad weather. We're now the fourth raw milk dairy in Faith's family.

Our small herd is primarily Jersey and Brown Swiss cows. They graze our pasture through all but the coldest months, and our laying hens roam the pasture behind the cattle. Our milk is A2/A2, tested, and bottled in glass right here on the farm.

‍

Good to know: Credit is in dollars and works on anything we sell. It can be transferred to another customer but isn't redeemable for cash, and it doesn't reserve milk, so orders are filled as supply allows. Covenant Keepers replaces our old subscription discount. If the farm ever closes or is sold, we'll refund the unused share of what you paid.

Add-Ons

Pint jar of raw A2/A2 cream from Covenant Pastures

Add raw cream, skim milk or pastured eggs to any one-time order or subscription before orders close, three days before pickup.

Raw cheeses and other dairy value added products may also be available–keep an eye on your email for when we add them!

Pickup & Delivery

Orders close three days before pickup.

‍

Create an account and place your order online. Customize your items each week, which will pull from your pre-purchased credit automatically. Then come by our self-serve farm store at 3858 Oregon St in Cylinder, Monday through Saturday, 6 AM to 9 PM (closed Sundays).

‍

Check off what you picked up on the sign-out sheet in the farm store. If something on your order ran out before you got there, leave it unchecked and we’ll credit it back to your account. If there’s plenty available and you’d like more than you ordered, write it on the sheet and we’ll add it to your order.

‍

Delivery routes are on the way. We're gauging interest in three routes with public group pickup spots: $5 per pickup, with a 1-gallon minimum. See where each route goes, then enter your address on page two of signup to join the waitlist.

Order when you want, skip when you don't. Our subscriptions are customizable and à la carte, so you choose what you want each week and skip the weeks you don't need anything. Just make your changes before orders close, three days before pickup.

‍

Note: When milk supply is limited, we restrict availability to subscribers.

FAQ & Policies

When does my Covenant Keepers credit renew?

Once your credit is used up, it automatically renews.

Can I still pay by card?

Yes. Cards carry a 6% processing fee, and ACH a 3% fee. Cash or check has a 2% fee: mail it to Covenant Pastures LLC, PO Box 122, Cylinder, IA 50528, or leave it in the drop box at the farm store.

Can I get raw cream or skim milk?

Yes. We sell raw A2/A2 cream by the pint and skim milk by the half gallon. Cream and skim milk could be a few days old depending on when we skimmed the milk.

How long does raw milk keep?

Raw milk doesn't go "bad" like pasteurized milk. It will eventually sour as it ages, so you probably wouldn't want to drink it plain, but you can still use it in recipes.

How do you test and handle your milk?

Every cow is cleaned with an iodine-based pre-dip, and we check udder health regularly with a California Mastitis Test. The milk is cooled within a minute, strained through ultra-fine cheesecloth, bottled in sanitized glass jars and chilled to about 35°F.

Farm Products Acknowledgment and Release

We intentionally raise our cows on pasture to high standards, never in confinement. Our milk is left just as it comes from the cow: a living food with the naturally occurring bacteria and enzymes that pasteurization destroys, and with its cream left whole rather than homogenized. We take great care in raising our animals and handling our products, and we want every customer to make an informed choice. By placing an order with Covenant Pastures LLC, I acknowledge and agree to the following:

  1. Raw milk. The milk and dairy products I am purchasing are raw (unpasteurized). They are not subject to state inspection or to the public health regulations that require pasteurization and grading.
  2. Eggs and other farm products. Our eggs are ungraded, meaning they have not been graded or inspected by the USDA. Our eggs and other farm products come from a small family farm and are not processed in a commercial facility.
  3. Known risks. Raw milk and eggs may contain harmful bacteria, including E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria and Campylobacter, which can cause serious illness. The risk is greater for pregnant women, infants and young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. I have had the opportunity to research these risks and consult a healthcare provider, and I am choosing these products with that knowledge.
  4. Care after pickup. Once I receive my order, I am responsible for keeping all products refrigerated at 40°F or below. The date on each jar of milk is the bottle date. Milk is best enjoyed within 10 days of that date and should not be consumed more than 14 days after it. Eggs should be refrigerated and cooked thoroughly. Covenant Pastures is not responsible for products that are improperly stored, transported or handled after they leave the farm.
  5. Personal use. I am purchasing these products for my own household and will not resell or redistribute them.
  6. Others in my household. If I share these products with others in my household, including children, I am responsible for informing them of these risks.
  7. Release. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release Covenant Pastures LLC and its owners from claims for illness, injury or loss arising from the consumption of its products. This does not apply to gross negligence or willful misconduct.
  8. Ongoing orders. This acknowledgment applies to this order and all future orders until I withdraw it in writing.
